Is it true the new DVD is a combination of both VHS videos that use to be available " Three Piece Head Method " and " Nip and Tuck Method "
Does it contain new information not mentioned in the others.

The DVD contains two discs; one was originally the Three Piece Head video and the other was the Nip and Tuck.  Since the two programs by necessity contained some of the same information (the footage of building the body is the same on both videos) we felt like it made sense to combine them both in one package for the DVD.

The DVD does contain some "extras."  They are:
    * DVD Challenge Winners Gallery
    * Bloopers and Outtakes
    * Drewisms
    * DVD-Rom feature: List of Suppliers
    * DVD-Rom feature: Visual Glossary

I have both the Foam Book and the Foam Book DVD. (I also do have the VHS tapes) I'm afraid the tapes are just collecting dust these days, as technologically the DVD is just so much more accessible. But the DVD and the book are both used regularly.

In my experience, the book reinforces the video and vice-versa. What I love about them both is that they give you solid, practical information without it being a cookie-cutter "build-by-the-numbers" kind of construction. While I have nothing against using re-patterned kits, I find that (in particular) the three-piece head is a simple enough concept to grasp that it spurs creativity in making new and different head shapes. Even when experimenting with new shapes, I never have that nagging feeling that when I'm finished I won't have a usable puppet. To me this is one of the greatest features of the book/video.

Personally they have opened new avenues for artistic growth that I would not be following otherwise.

Hi
I'm new to this whole puppet making thing - just been browsing sites and they all see to recommend The Foam Book and now the DVD.  I'm in Canada (Toronto specifically) and I haven't found the book or the DVD on amazon.ca.  Is there anywhere in Canada selling the products?  Also anyone know of a good suppliers list for Canadians to get supplies?

Thanks for the help! Smiley

Dear MsM,

Welcome to our community!  The easiest way to get the book or DVD would be to contact Megan in our office at megan (at) greysealpuppets (dot) com.  Our regular PayPal cart doesn't work for shipping to Canada (I don't think) but she can arrange it for you if you'd like.  If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Thanks!
